It is definitely a shame, but it is a fact that the days of the traditional travel agent are running out. The primary reason for this is the fact that the internet has really enabled us to find out all of the information we were ever likely to, through these agents, and even more importantly, find the best deals on travel.
Everyone has become the expert on travel now and their overall knowledge of destinations and geography has probably increased substantially over the years since this facility has been available to the masses.
From huge tours of South America to securing touring caravans for sale the internet is the first port of call for anything of this nature. Even if we just want to find out an insignificant piece of information, by typing the query into a search engine, we are bombarded with umpteen results which are ready to satisfy any requirement.
Of course, the edge the internet has over the traditional travel agent is the fact that all of these arrangements can be made in the comfort of our own homes. If travel agents are ever going to be able to compete with this factor, they are going to have to spend considerable sums making their retail shops more cosy and comfortable and they are definitely going to have to educate their staff to an amazing level of knowledge on world geography and trivia.
Most travel companies are already struggling as a consequence of what has been outlined in this article. It seems that unless we take the time to physically visit these friendly agents now, we really can wave them goodbye in the not too distant future.
