Home Front Heroes

This was a project to increase long-term access to World War Two original sources held in Suffolk Record Office and increase knowledge and understanding of the Home Front in Suffolk. The project focused on the role of the Suffolk Regiment during World War Two and the experiences of evacuees both to and from Suffolk. Work with teachers and schools resulted in a discovery kit, workshops and online resources. These have been designed for KS2 and 3 students but will be of interest to all.

Sea Heroes

This project focused on maritime history in Lowestoft and was linked to the national activities marking the bicentenary of the Battle of Trafalgar, 1805-2005. The aim of the project was to encourage interest in local maritime history and in particular to consider the work of local Sea Heroes. Stories were selected to inspire, inform and excite the imagination of young and old, provide a new and rich source for learning, history, literacy and art and help develop a sense of community and greater appreciation and respect for earlier generations. A discovery kit and online resources were developed, designed for KS2 and 3 students, but of interest to all.
